Green Bee Eater ('Banspati')


Hello! We were absent for some months! Sorry for this. Now we are back with more pictures. Please send us pictures and write ups...
This Green Bee Eater bird was spotted over a pond when we went to visit a flower nursery at a village near Kharagpur.

Green bee eater - II


This Green Bee eater (know as 'Banspati' in Bengal) is found to be sitting on an electrical wire passing over the open field in a village in Nadia, West Bengal (India). Later we found it catching honey bees which were flying around.

The Green Bee Eater

The green bee-eater: this is known as 'banspati' in Bengal.
This nice green cloured bird is a bee-eater that usually eats various insects, especially bees and dragonflies. They also eat wasps. The bee-eaters are generally found in the open areas, rice field and farmlands. This is seen to be sitting on an electrical wire.
This has been captured in the rural area of Panskura, East Midnapore, West Bengal.
